Comments: this story is partly based on a dream that I had had back then, a really weird but remarkable dream about a mysterious mansion and a cabinet that ate children actually!!*giggles* It’s so remarkable that I decided to make a doll fanfic based on it!!XXDDD

This story is the sequel for my previous Ornamental Doll fanfic “Doll Inside The Box”… I bet no one can still remember this fic expect some of my fds…and this story has nothing to do with DEG so nobody on ML is going to read it but whatever! I don’t care any more!

Still…to tell the truth, the plot is a bit messy coz sometime I had no idea what I’m writing…*sweatdrops*

still…C&C please! This story is for those who read it!^^

The House of the Cabinet

An Ornamental Doll series

Sequel of The Doll Inside The Box

Prologue I

***

With the box in his arms, the Boy in a high school uniform ran on and on, into the dream world.

Now he felt…so unbelievably…free…so free and weightless that as if his brain was going to melt, but feeling so much in peace was almost unbearable.

This happiness was so prefect that it wasn’t possible for it to be real…

A fantasy happiness in a fantasy world.

Even the Boy himself and the beautiful Doll inside the box no longer seemed to be the creation of reality neither.

but mirage, no matter how beautiful it might be, is fated to be short-live.

And the Boy knew it as well, therefore, he opened the box.

And started to feel very confused.

He understood that what he had done on the train was wrong in normal standard, he understood that much at least.

Now he gasped his happiness in his hands, but such happiness was built upon a murder. In order to fulfill his own desire, the Boy took a life of an innocent almost meaninglessly.

So…what was he supposed to do now?

The Doll inside the box offered him no answer. All he could do without a torso, is to smile peacefully to the latter.

therefore,

the Boy told the Doll his last wish.

“Make me to be like you then!”

I would be happy to have this done to me if I could stand longer in this mirage…just let me…

The doll inside the box kept smiling.

Would you fulfill my dream? Would you? I know it was selfish to ask for it, but still I want this happiness to be continued…as long as it could…

And then the Doll did fulfill his wish, simply because it was Ornamental Doll’s duty to make people happy ne…

*****

After being transformed into a marionette, the Boy laid next to the Doll and the box in this boondocks, trapping between reality and fantasy.

He could no longer move after the transformation. After becoming a marionette, he could no longer more with his own, his body feel dumb and numb and unfeeling like a dead object. The Boy who once was a human being, was now trapped inside a body of a marionette with his own thought locked up inside his head.

The Boy still had his own consciousness, he could still think on his own, but the other part of him had became a marionette totally.

but after transforming into this new from, his happiness couldn’t last long.

because The Man came soon afterward.

He came looking for them, walking all the way from the long-abandoned reality world which the Boy had given up so willingly.

And The Man wanted to bring them back to this wasteland which was filling with unhappiness and imperfection, which he called *reality*.

But so afterward, another man rushed into the scene following the first man.

What was going on here? Why both of these men refused to leave him and the Doll alone in peace? The Boy knew no answer, all he could heard was the loud voice of the second man, auguring loudly with the first man. It was so anxious! Therefore he decided to shut down the remain of his consciousness, broke the contact from the outside world.

He wanted to remain consciousness no longer.

By the time he came to again, he was in a place where he had never seen before.

Obviously that reality had got him eventually.

Now he was inside of the Man--Yukki’s house, a place called Ornamental Doll Shop.

He felt that something stuffed in his heart until he saw the Doll was beside him. an the uneasy feeling was gone immediately.

Now the Doll was no longer stuffed inside the small box because Yukki had already gave him back his torso and limbs, to make him whole like he once used to be again.

Oh! And there were so many other dolls inside the shop! Everyone of them had their eyes closed as if they were sleeping and waiting for something to happen. And Yukki was there to take care of all the dolls.

But only the Boy was unable to fell asleep. All he could do was to let his eyes open, staring at everything around him but without really seeing anything.

Time seemed to mean nothing in that shop because every single day looked so familiar with others, the shop was always in peace, save for some customers would came into the shop to visit the dolls. Otherwise nothing would be able to disturb this peace and this silence.

Yes, the Boy found that he was surrounded by complete silent.

Sometime Yukki would tell his customers that even all the dolls in his shop appearing to be in deep sleep, still they managed to communicate with others of their rare with a specially that unknown to ordinary people.

It that truth? The Boy thought to himself, if Yukki was talking the truth, how come he had never heard dolls talking to each other in the shop?

Well, he did hear some murmuring voice or noise now and then, but he wasn’t able to capture the meaning of these little voice. These voice were like countless of invisible crumbling that floating around him from time to time, but when he tried to capture them, they vanished.

All of the dolls never seemed to feel lonely, because they could communicate with each other. But the Boy himself was lonely, because he could never hear of other dolls’ conversations.

Besides, Yukki used to remain his customers that, even Ornamental Dolls were by no mean human, still they possess a heart that more gently and more delicate than any human could possess.

Heart…

It was the first time for the Boy to remember the matter of the *heart*. He had long forgotten something like this, until he overhear Yukki mentioning about this very word.

It aroused a question, did the Boy himself still possess a hear of his own?

The boy didn’t know the answer, but maybe he didn’t.

His heart was taken away from him by the time he first laid eyes on his beloved Doll. No longer having his heart within him, the Boy became a empty marionette thereafter.

An empty marionette.

That why the other dolls refused to talk to him…The Boy suddenly realized.

Because he didn’t have a mind, he had nothing, so he couldn’t hear the voice from the other dolls.

It was the first time the Boy began to be panic, and he started wondering what he really WAS now.

Neither a human being nor an Ornamental Doll, he was just a empty marionette.

Not like this! I still have thought in my mind, I still can think! I’m not a object in any sort…

The Boy was so panic that he wanted to cry out. But the cry just didn’t come out.

Unable to rise a voice, unable to move, all the evidences which might proof that the Boy was still a living being, were disappeared.

Everything that could proof the living existence of the Boy was gone.

He was trapped inside a body of a marionette, with no way to escape.

It wasn’t the happiness he wanted.

But still he knew that he would be trapped for the rest of his life.

He began to regret, but it was too late.

But time pass by slowly. Day in day out, the Boy remained in the shop, being not sure of anything about himself anymore. Little by little he started to forget things about the past…finally he couldn’t even why he was in pain any longer…

But still the pain remained with him, even he could remember the reason why.

Until one day.

A customer came into the shop, decided to take the Doll away.

Now the Boy could barely remember who the Doll really was, but still sadness overtook him when he realized that the Doll was about to be taken away.

At that point, the customer who wanted to take the Doll away, suddenly turned his head and discovered the Boy, their eyes met in a instant. The customer was a man who had a long curl mass of brown hair, dressing in fine fashionable clothes and wearing a pair of black velvet gloves in his hands.

First the boy wasn’t sure that the customer was staring at him, until he pointed a finger at his direction and asked. “This doll……”

“doesn’t have a mind of his own, right?”He asked Yukki.

Yukki answered the customer’s question with an uneasy __expression. The Boy couldn’t make out of their conversations, but soon the customer began to make his way toward the Boy…

“Are you in pain…?” He laid a hand, which was wearing a fine black glove, to stroke the Boy’s hair gently.

………

“Do you want to forget everything in the past?”

…Yes……

“So let me bring you to a place that you could leave everything behind, will you go with me?” the man smiled.

Go to a place that you could leave everything behind?

With this word the Boy’s consciousness began to focus once again. He started to quivering slightly almost unnoticeable. Who was this man? What he really want from him?

”If you want to come with me, you have to speak up, understand?”

The Boy tried his best to move his lips, but nothing came out.

“Customer…Yoshiki san…please don’t do that…”Yukki was caught completely off guard this time, but he still tried to stop Yoshiki.

“Do what ?”Yoshiki rose an eyebrow to the shop owner, throwing a mockingly gaze to the latter.

“Yoshiki san…you know what I mean!” Yukki was enrage, even so slightly.

“………….”

But suddenly there was a tiny voice came out behind their back, so Yukki had to stop.

“Please..” To Yukki surprise, the Boy started to speak, even the difficult was so great for him, but he managed to speak! And his eyes, which had been nothing more than a pair of dark glass balls, now began to focus for the first time after two years!

And his eyes were fixing on the man whom had been called Yoshiki.

“Please…take me…”

to be continued…
